Yaroslava Yalysovetska, a multiple champion of Ukraine among boys and juniors, has been living and training in Portugal since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, where she performs for the local sports club “Benfica Atletismo.”
In a comment to the Ukrainian Athletics Federation, Yaroslava shared the differences between training and competing in Ukraine and Portugal.
“As for competitions abroad, there is a huge difference – in the number of meetings (competitions), there are almost some starts every Sunday, which is a problem in Ukraine. More experience is better!
Regarding training, there are usually more people in the team abroad, which greatly helps to improve results. And much better conditions: stadium, equipment, inventory, bars.”
In 2022, Yaroslava became a semifinalist of the World Junior Championships in Cali in the 400-meter hurdles, and this season at local competitions in Lisbon, she managed to update her personal record on the flat 400 meters – 57.33.
