On the second evening of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, the men’s high jump qualification took center stage, with Ukraine fielding three athletes — Oleh Doroshchuk, Dmytro Nikitin, and Vadym Kravchuk.
Doroshchuk, who entered the event ranked No. 3 in the world and boasting this season’s best mark of 2.34m, lived up to expectations. The 24-year-old from Kropyvnytskyi topped Group B with a flawless series — 2.16m, 2.21m, and 2.25m — all cleared on his very first attempts.
With that performance, Doroshchuk advanced to the World Championships final for the second time in his career, having already appeared at three previous editions of the global meet.
The final is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, with the action starting at 14:36 Kyiv time. Unfortunately, teammates Dmytro Nikitin and Vadym Kravchuk fell short of qualifying for the decisive round.
