Sophia Yaremchuk, who has been running under the Italian flag since 2021, improved her personal best by more than a minute – 2:24:02 – and finished in a high 9th place at the London Marathon.
The Tough Athletics had a brief conversation with the marathoner:
Sophia, how was the race today? Are you satisfied with the result?
Oh, after my stop at the Milan Marathon, that was very difficult for me psychologically, but today I enjoyed every moment from 1 to 42 km.
During the race, I thanked God for every kilometer I covered here in London.
You started very fast, it was a part of the plan or did it just go well for you?
I ran in the second group. My coach and I planned to start at 1:12, but something went wrong, and I wanted to stay in the second group, so I took the risk, and it paid off.
